Rollers Roller Disco and Skating ran four sessions over the winter break, teaching young people how to skate and progressing to playing simple games to continue to build their confidence and get them more active.
A significant aim of the programme is encouraging those with SEND to participate. The team began to work with young people with ADHD and autism a few months prior to the winter programme starting.
The results were a winter programme which included an extended activity time and reduced noise levels. The feedback from parents and children was so positive the team decided to develop an inclusion programme within our mainstream session including activities such as roller hockey, roller derby and street skating for older young people.
“Brilliant fun our children loved it!” Parent
